Preparation
- 1
Rinse and Sort Cranberries
Rinse the fresh cranberries under cold running water and remove any stems or bad berries.
- 2
Prepare Orange Components
Zest the oranges carefully, avoiding the white pith, and then juice the oranges to collect 1 cup of orange juice.
Cooking
- 3
Combine Ingredients
In a large saucepan, combine the rinsed cranberries, orange zest, orange juice, water, granulated sugar, brown sugar, ground cinnamon, ground nutmeg, and salt.
- 4
Cook the Sauce
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat, stirring frequently. Once boiling, reduce the heat to medium-low and let it simmer for about 15-20 minutes until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens.
- 5
Cool and Store
Remove the saucepan from heat and let the cranberry sauce cool to room temperature. Transfer to a serving dish or airtight container and refrigerate until ready to serve.
