Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Topping
Start by washing the Roma tomatoes and chopping them into small pieces. Place them in a mixing bowl.
- 2
Add Garlic and Basil
Mince the garlic cloves and add them to the bowl with the chopped tomatoes. Tear the fresh basil leaves into smaller pieces and add them to the mixture.
- 3
Season the Mixture
Sprinkle the salt and black pepper over the tomato mixture and stir gently to combine. Let it sit for about 10 minutes to marinate.
Grilling the Bread
- 4
Slice the Baguette
While the topping is marinating, slice the baguette diagonally into 1/2 inch thick slices.
- 5
Brush with Olive Oil
Place the sliced baguette on a baking sheet and brush both sides with olive oil.
- 6
Grill the Bread
Preheat the grill or a grill pan over medium-high heat. Grill the bread slices for about 2-3 minutes on each side until they are golden brown and crispy.
Assembling the Bruschetta
- 7
Top the Grilled Bread
Once the bread is grilled, remove it from the heat and allow it to cool slightly. Spoon the tomato mixture generously onto each slice of grilled bread.
- 8
Serve
Arrange the bruschetta on a serving platter and serve immediately while the bread is still warm.
