Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the oven

Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).

  2. 2

    Boil the ravioli

In a large pot of boiling salted water, add the ravioli and cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 3-5 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Make the Cheese Mixture

  1. 3

    Combine cheeses

In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, shredded mozzarella, grated Parmesan, crumbled Gorgonzola, black pepper, and chopped fresh basil. Mix until well combined.

Make the Marinara Sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté garlic

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.

  2. 5

    Add tomatoes and seasonings

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, oregano, dried basil, salt, and sugar. Bring to a simmer and cook for about 15 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Assembly

  1. 6

    Layer the dish

In a baking dish, spread a layer of marinara sauce on the bottom. Place half of the cooked ravioli on top, followed by half of the cheese mixture. Repeat the layers with the remaining ingredients.

  2. 7

    Top with mozzarella

Finish with a layer of marinara sauce and sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese on top.

Baking

  1. 8

    Bake the ravioli

Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes, until the cheese is bubbly and golden.

  2. 9

    Garnish and serve

Remove from the oven, let cool for 5 minutes, then garnish with fresh basil before serving.
