Burger Patty

Burger Assembly

Method

Preparing the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined; be careful not to overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions (about 8 ounces each) and shape each portion into a patty. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty with your thumb to help it cook evenly.

  3. 3

    Chill the Patties

Place the patties on a plate and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to firm up before cooking.

Cooking the Burger

  1. 4

    Preheat the Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or a heavy skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 5

    Cook the Patties

Once hot, place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side until a crust forms. Flip the patties and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes for medium doneness.

  3. 6

    Toast the Buns

During the last minute of cooking, place the burger buns cut-side down on the grill or skillet to toast until golden brown.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 7

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the burgers are cooking, slice the tomato and onion. Rinse and dry the lettuce leaves.

  2. 8

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, layer the lettuce, a cooked patty with melted cheese, tomato slices, onion rings, pickles, ketchup, and mustard to taste. Top with the other half of the bun.

  3. 9

    Serve

Serve the burgers immediately with your favorite side dishes such as fries or a salad.
