Main Ingredients

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

Prepare the Crab and Fish Mixture

In a large bowl, gently combine the jumbo lump blue crab meat and flaked grouper fillet, being careful not to break up the crab meat too much.

  2. 2

    Mix the Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, chopped green onion, Old Bay seasoning, salt, and black pepper until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Ingredients

Pour the wet mixture over the crab and fish mixture. Add the breadcrumbs and the beaten egg. Gently fold everything together until just combined.

  4. 4

    Form the Cakes

Using your hands, form the mixture into patties or cakes, about 1 inch thick. Place them on a lined baking sheet.

  5. 5

    Chill the Cakes

Cover the baking sheet with plastic wrap and refrigerate the crab cakes for at least 30 minutes to help them hold together during cooking.

  6. 6

    Cook the Cakes

Heat a skillet over medium heat and add a little oil. Cook the crab cakes for about 4-5 minutes per side, or until golden brown and cooked through.

  7. 7

Prepare the Avocado Green Goddess Dressing

While the crab cakes are cooking, prepare the avocado green goddess dressing by blending ripe avocados, fresh herbs, lemon juice, and olive oil until smooth.

  8. 8

    Serve

Serve the crab and grouper cakes hot, garnished with capers and drizzled with the avocado green goddess dressing.
