Method

Preparing the Beef Patty

1

Mixing the Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined.

2

Shaping the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing up during cooking.

Cooking the Patties

3

Cooking on the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the patties for about 3-4 minutes on one side until browned, then flip them.

4

Adding Cheese

After flipping, place a slice of American cheese on each patty. Cook for an additional 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patties reach your desired doneness.

Assembling the Cheeseburger

5

Toasting the Buns

While the patties are cooking, you can toast the hamburger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

6

Building the Burger

Spread ketchup and mustard on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place a lettuce leaf on top, followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese, and then add slices of tomato. Top with the other half of the bun.
