Method

Patty Preparation

1

Mix the Beef

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently with your hands until just combined.

2

Form Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and form them into patties about 3/4 inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up during cooking.

Cooking the Patties

3

Heat the Grill or Pan

Preheat a grill or a skillet over medium-high heat. Ensure it's well-oiled to prevent sticking.

4

Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side. Flip them over and place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty. Cook for another 3-4 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the patty is cooked to your desired doneness.

Assembly

5

Prepare the Buns

While the patties are cooking, slice the hamburger buns in half and toast them lightly on the grill or in a toaster if desired.

6

Assemble the Cheeseburger

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a lettuce leaf followed by the cooked patty with melted cheese. Add a slice of tomato, pickles, and your choice of ketchup and mustard. Top with the other half of the bun.
