Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Potatoes
Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, approximately 1/4 inch wide.
- 2
Soak the Potatoes
Place the cut potato strips in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and results in crispier fries.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer for accuracy.
- 4
Fry the Potatoes
Remove the potatoes from the water and dry them thoroughly with a clean towel. Carefully add a batch of potato strips to the hot oil. Fry for about 4-5 minutes or until they are golden brown.
- 5
Drain and Season
Once cooked, remove the fries from the oil and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil. Season with salt, black pepper, and paprika to taste.
- 6
Serve
Serve the fries hot and enjoy with your favorite dipping sauces.
