Fried Calamari
Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Breading
In a large bowl, combine all-purpose flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and cayenne pepper. Mix well to combine.
- 2
Coat the Calamari
Dredge the calamari rings in the flour mixture, ensuring they are fully coated. Shake off any excess flour.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a large pot or deep fryer, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the Calamari
Carefully add the coated calamari rings to the hot oil in batches. Fry for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 5
Drain and Serve
Using a slotted spoon, transfer the fried calamari to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Serve hot with marinara sauce on the side.
