Cooking Instructions
- 1
Rinse the Rice
Place the jasmine rice in a fine mesh strainer and rinse under cold running water for 2-3 minutes until the water runs clear. This helps to remove excess starch and prevents the rice from being gummy.
- 2
Combine Ingredients
In a medium saucepan, combine the rinsed jasmine rice, water, and salt. If using butter or oil, add it to the mixture.
- 3
Bring to a Boil
Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat.
- 4
Simmer the Rice
Once boiling, reduce the heat to low, cover the saucepan with a tight-fitting lid, and let it simmer for 15 minutes. Do not lift the lid during this time.
- 5
Let it Rest
After 15 minutes, remove the saucepan from heat and let it sit, covered, for another 10 minutes. This allows the rice to finish cooking and absorb any remaining moisture.
- 6
Fluff the Rice
After resting, remove the lid and use a fork to fluff the rice gently. Serve warm.
