Fried Bananas

Method

Fried Bananas

1

Prepare Bananas

Peel the ripe bananas and cut each one in half lengthwise, then again crosswise to create four pieces per banana. Pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.

2

Make Batter

In a mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Gradually add cold water while whisking until you get a smooth, thick batter consistency.

3

Heat Oil

In a deep pan or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C). Use a thermometer to monitor the temperature for best results.

4

Fry Bananas

Dip each banana piece into the batter, ensuring it is fully coated. Carefully place the coated bananas into the hot oil and fry in batches for 2–3 minutes, or until golden brown and crispy. Avoid overcrowding the pan.

5

Drain

Remove the fried bananas with a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

To Serve

6

Plate the Dessert

Place 4–5 pieces of fried banana on a serving plate. Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream next to the bananas.

7

Garnish

Drizzle with honey or chocolate syrup if desired, dust with powdered sugar, and garnish with a mint leaf. Serve immediately while the bananas are hot and crispy and the ice cream is cold.
