Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Make the Soda Base

In a large bowl, combine the carbonated water, brown sugar, and either root beer extract or cream soda extract depending on your flavor preference. Stir until the sugar is dissolved.

  2. 2

    Add Flavoring

Add the vanilla extract and mix well. If making root beer, include the root beer extract. For cream soda, use the cream soda extract.

  3. 3

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, dissolve the yeast in a little warm water (about 1/4 cup) and let it sit for about 5 minutes until it becomes frothy.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the yeast mixture into the soda base and stir gently to combine.

  5. 5

    Bottle the Soda

Carefully pour the mixture into clean bottles, leaving about an inch of space at the top. Seal the bottles tightly.

  6. 6

    Ferment

Leave the bottles at room temperature for 24 to 48 hours to ferment. Check periodically for carbonation.

  7. 7

    Refrigerate

Once the desired carbonation is achieved, refrigerate the bottles to stop the fermentation process.

  8. 8

    Serve

Serve cold over ice cubes for a refreshing soda pop experience.
