Tuna Tartare Ingredients

Method

Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Tuna

Using a sharp knife, finely dice the fresh tuna steak into small cubes, about 1/4 inch in size. This will ensure that the tartare has a pleasant texture.

  2. 2

    Mix the Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine the diced tuna with soy sauce, sesame oil, and fresh lime juice. Mix gently to coat the tuna evenly with the sauces.

  3. 3

    Season the Mixture

Taste the mixture and add salt and black pepper as desired. Remember that the soy sauce is already salty, so adjust accordingly.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Avocado

Cut the ripe avocado in half, remove the pit, and scoop out the flesh. Dice the avocado into small cubes, similar in size to the tuna.

  5. 5

    Combine Avocado and Tuna

Gently fold the diced avocado into the tuna mixture, being careful not to mash the avocado. This will add creaminess to the tartare.

  6. 6

Add Sesame Seeds and Green Onions

Sprinkle sesame seeds and finely chopped green onions (if using) over the mixture and gently fold them in.

  7. 7

    Chill and Serve

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld. Serve chilled, either on its own or with tortilla chips or crackers.
