Crispy Beer Battered Fish and Toppings
Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Fish
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, and black pepper. Gradually add beer while stirring until the batter is smooth.
- 2
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or fryer, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until hot (about 350°F or 175°C).
- 3
Batter and Fry the Fish
Dip each fish fillet in the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place in the hot oil and fry until golden brown and crispy, about 4-5 minutes per side. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 4
Make the Slaw
In a mixing bowl, combine shredded cabbage and pickled jalapeños. Toss well to mix.
- 5
Prepare the Chipotle Orange Sauce
In another bowl, mix mayonnaise, chipotle peppers, orange juice, lime juice, and honey. Stir until well combined.
- 6
Assemble the Dish
On a serving plate, place the crispy fish, top with the pickled jalapeño cabbage slaw, and drizzle with chipotle orange sauce. Serve immediately.
