Method

For the Vanilla Syrup

  1. 1

    Prepare the Vanilla Syrup

In a small saucepan, combine granulated sugar and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved.

  2. 2

    Add Vanilla

Once the sugar has dissolved, remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Allow to cool before using. Store any extra syrup in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

For the Mocha

  1. 3

    Brew the Espresso

Brew 2 shots of espresso using your espresso machine or stovetop espresso maker.

  2. 4

    Melt the Dark Chocolate

In a small saucepan over low heat, melt the dark chocolate until smooth, stirring constantly to avoid burning.

  3. 5

    Combine Chocolate and Espresso

Once the dark chocolate is melted, add the brewed espresso and stir until well combined.

  4. 6

    Heat the Milk

In another saucepan, heat the milk over medium heat until steaming but not boiling. You can froth the milk if desired.

  5. 7

    Combine Ingredients

Pour the hot milk into the chocolate and espresso mixture. Stir well to combine.

  6. 8

    Serve the Mocha

Pour the mocha into a large mug. Top with whipped cream and a sprinkle of cocoa powder for garnish.
