Brown Sugar Syrup Preparation

Make the Brown Sugar Syrup
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of brown sugar and 1 cup of water. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar completely dissolves. Once dissolved, bring to a gentle simmer and let it cook for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and let cool. Store any extra syrup in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Mix the Drink
In a mixing glass filled with ice, add 2 oz of bourbon, 1 oz of cold brew coffee, and 1/2 oz of the house-made brown sugar syrup. Add 2 dashes of cocoa bitters. Stir gently for about 20-30 seconds until well chilled.

Strain and Garnish
Strain the mixture into an old-fashioned glass with a large ice cube. Garnish with a twist of orange peel and a maraschino cherry on top.
