Method
Strawberry Citrus Syrup Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Strawberries
Wash and hull the fresh strawberries, then slice them into quarters.
- 2
Cook the Syrup
In a saucepan, combine the sliced strawberries, granulated sugar, and water. Heat over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves and the mixture starts to simmer.
- 3
Simmer and Strain
Let the mixture simmer for about 10-15 minutes until the strawberries are soft and the syrup has thickened slightly. Remove from heat and strain through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl to separate the syrup from the solids. Discard the solids and stir in the fresh orange juice. Allow to cool completely.
Cocktail Assembly
- 4
Combine Ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add the tequila, fresh lime juice, and 1 oz of the house-made strawberry citrus syrup.
- 5
Shake
Fill the shaker with ice and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until well chilled.
- 6
Strain into Glass
Strain the mixture into a chilled cocktail glass.
- 7
Garnish
Garnish the cocktail with fresh basil leaves and a lime wedge on the rim of the glass.
