Floral Syrup

Method

Floral Syrup

  1. 1

    Prepare the floral infusion

In a medium saucepan, combine the dried French lavender, dried rose petals, and water. Bring to a boil over medium heat.

  2. 2

    Simmer and steep

Once boiling, reduce the heat and allow the mixture to simmer for about 15 minutes. Remove from heat and let steep for an additional 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Strain the mixture

After steeping, strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a clean bowl, discarding the solids.

  4. 4

    Add sugar and lemon juice

While the floral infusion is still warm, stir in the granulated sugar until fully dissolved. Add the lemon juice and mix well. Let cool.

  5. 5

    Store the syrup

Transfer the cooled floral syrup to a clean bottle or jar, seal, and store in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

Latte Preparation

  1. 6

    Brew the espresso

Brew 2 shots of espresso using your preferred method (espresso machine, AeroPress, etc.).

  2. 7

    Heat and froth the milk

In a small saucepan or using a milk frother, heat the milk until steaming but not boiling. Froth the milk to create a creamy texture.

  3. 8

    Combine espresso and syrup

In a large mug, add the 2 tablespoons of floral syrup. Pour the brewed espresso over the syrup and stir to combine.

  4. 9

    Add frothed milk

Slowly pour the frothed milk into the mug, holding back the foam with a spoon to allow the liquid milk to mix with the espresso and syrup.

  5. 10

    Garnish and serve

Top the latte with the reserved foam and garnish with edible flowers. Serve immediately and enjoy your Flora Latte!
