Preparation

  1. 1

    Make Blackberry Syrup

In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of blackberries and 1 cup of water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat and let it cook for about 10 minutes, stirring occasionally until the blackberries break down. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve into a bowl, discarding the solids to get the syrup. Let it cool and store in the refrigerator.

  2. 2

    Prepare Lime

Cut the lime in half and juice one half, reserving the other half for garnish. If you prefer, you can also cut the lime into wedges.

Mixing

  1. 3

    Muddle Mint and Lime

In a sturdy glass or cocktail shaker, add the mint leaves and the juice from half the lime. Muddle gently to release the mint's essential oils, being careful not to tear the leaves too much.

  2. 4

    Add Rum and Syrup

Pour 2 oz of white rum and 1 oz of the prepared blackberry syrup into the glass. Stir gently to combine the flavors.

  3. 5

    Add Soda Water

Top the mixture with 4 oz of soda water to add fizz. Stir gently to combine.

Serving

  1. 6

    Garnish and Serve

Add ice to the glass, and garnish with the reserved lime half, 2 whole blackberries, and a sprig of mint. Serve immediately and enjoy your refreshing Blackberry Mojito!
