Method

Cook the Meat

  1. 1

    Brown the Ground Beef

In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it apart with a spoon, until browned (about 5-7 minutes). Drain excess fat.

Add Vegetables

  1. 2

    Sauté the Vegetables

Add the chopped onion, green bell pepper, and minced garlic to the skillet with the beef. Cook for another 5 minutes until the vegetables are soft.

Combine Ingredients

  1. 3

    Add Condiments

Stir in ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, brown sugar, salt, and black pepper. Mix well until combined.

Simmer

  1. 4

    Simmer the Mixture

Reduce the heat to low and let the mixture simmer for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.

Toast the Buns

  1. 5

    Prepare the Buns

While the mixture is simmering, preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place the hamburger buns on a baking sheet and toast them in the oven for 5-7 minutes until golden brown.

Assemble

  1. 6

    Serve the Sloppy Joes

Remove the buns from the oven. Spoon the sloppy joe mixture onto the bottom half of each bun. Top with the other half and serve immediately.
