Potato Preparation

Method

Potato Preparation

  1. 1

    Choose and Wash Potatoes

Select 4 medium-sized russet potatoes. Wash them thoroughly under cold running water to remove any dirt.

  2. 2

    Peel and Cut Potatoes

Peel the potatoes using a vegetable peeler. Cut them into long strips, about 1/4 inch thick, resembling fries.

  3. 3

    Soak Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a large bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch and results in crispier fries.

  4. 4

    Drain and Dry

After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.

Frying

  1. 5

    Preheat Oil

In a large deep frying pan or a deep fryer, heat oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  2. 6

    Season Potatoes

In a large bowl, toss the dried potato strips with olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika until evenly coated.

  3. 7

    Fry Potatoes

Carefully add the seasoned potato strips to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry them for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  4. 8

    Drain and Serve

Using a slotted spoon, remove the fries from the oil and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil. If desired, sprinkle with Parmesan cheese while hot. Serve immediately.
