Burger Patties

Toppings

Method

Preparing the Burger Patties

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, and garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined to avoid overworking the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the meat mixture into two equal portions and shape them into patties, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

Cooking the Bacon

  1. 3

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy, about 5-7 minutes. Remove the bacon from the skillet and drain on paper towels.

Cooking the Burgers

  1. 4

    Grill or Fry the Patties

In the same skillet or on a grill, cook the burger patties over medium-high heat for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness. In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of gouda cheese on each patty to melt.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 5

    Toast the Buns

While the patties are cooking, lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster.

  2. 6

    Build the Burger

Spread mayonnaise on the bottom half of each toasted bun. Place the lettuce, cooked burger patty with melted gouda, bacon, tomato slices, and red onion on top. Add ketchup and mustard to taste, then cover with the top half of the bun.
