Fries Preparation
- 1
Fry the Potatoes
Preheat the vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 180°C (350°F). Add the frozen French fries in batches, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot.
- 2
Cook the Fries
Fry the potatoes for about 3-5 minutes or until they are golden brown and crispy. Remove them with a slotted spoon and transfer them to a plate lined with paper towels to absorb excess oil.
- 3
Season the Fries
While the fries are still hot, sprinkle them with salt to taste. Set aside.
Chili Preparation
- 4
Cook the Meat
In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef or turkey. Cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon, about 5-7 minutes.
- 5
- 6
Combine Ingredients
Stir in the canned diced tomatoes, kidney beans, chili powder, cumin, salt, black pepper, and water. Bring to a simmer.
- 7
Simmer the Chili
Reduce the heat to low and let the chili simmer for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens.
Assembling the Dish
- 8
Layer the Fries
Place the cooked fries on a large serving platter or individual plates.
- 9
Top with Chili
Evenly spoon the chili mixture over the fries.
- 10
Add Cheese and Toppings
Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the chili, allowing it to melt slightly. Top with sour cream and chopped green onions.
- 11
Serve Immediately
Serve the chili cheese fries hot and enjoy!
