Doughnut Ingredients

Method

Doughnut Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Doughnut Batter

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.

  2. 2

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Melt the butter and let it cool slightly, then add it to the wet mixture.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet and Dry Ingredients

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and mix until just combined. Do not overmix.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep pot or fryer, heat the vegetable oil to 375°F (190°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Doughnuts

Using a spoon or piping bag, carefully drop spoonfuls of the doughnut batter into the hot oil, frying a few at a time until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.

  6. 6

    Drain and Cool

Using a slotted spoon, remove the doughnuts and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Allow them to cool slightly.

  7. 7

    Coat in Cinnamon Sugar

In a shallow bowl, mix together 1 cup of sugar and 2 tsp of cinnamon. Roll the warm doughnuts in the cinnamon sugar until fully coated.

  8. 8

    Serve with Toppings

Serve the doughnuts warm with mixed berry jam or chocolate sauce for dipping.
