Method

Preparation of the Base

  1. 1

    Mix the Base Ingredients

In a shaker, combine 2 oz of tequila, 1 oz of lime juice, and 0.5 oz of agave syrup. Fill the shaker with ice, close it tightly, and shake vigorously for about 15 seconds until well chilled.

Layering the Flavors

  1. 2

    Prepare Purees

In a separate container, prepare the watermelon and strawberry purees. You can either blend fresh watermelon and strawberries in a blender until smooth, or use store-bought purees. Measure out 1 oz of each puree for layering.

  2. 3

    Layer the Shot

In your shot glass, pour the watermelon puree first, filling it to about halfway. Next, gently pour the tequila mixture over the back of a spoon to create a layer on top of the watermelon puree.

  3. 4

    Add Strawberry Layer

Carefully add the strawberry puree on top of the tequila layer using the back of a spoon to maintain the layers. You should have three distinct layers now.

Garnishing

  1. 5

    Finish and Garnish

Sprinkle a pinch of chili powder on top of the shot for a spicy kick. Serve with a lime wedge on the side for added flavor.
