Jalapeño Ranch Dressing
Method
Fried Jalapeños
- 1
Prepare the Jalapeños
Wash the fresh jalapeños and slice them into rings, removing the seeds if you prefer less heat.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.
- 3
Coat the Jalapeños
Pour the buttermilk into a shallow bowl. Dip each jalapeño ring into the buttermilk, then dredge in the flour mixture until well coated.
- 4
Fry the Jalapeños
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Once hot, carefully add the coated jalapeños and fry until golden brown, about 3–4 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Fried Pickles
- 5
Prepare the Pickles
Drain the pickle slices and pat them dry with a paper towel to remove excess moisture.
- 6
Make the Batter
In a mixing bowl, combine flour, cornmeal, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Stir to mix well.
- 7
Coat the Pickles
Dip each pickle slice into the buttermilk, then dredge in the flour mixture until thoroughly coated.
- 8
Fry the Pickles
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the coated pickles in batches until golden brown, about 2–3 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Jalapeño Ranch Dressing
- 9
Combine Ingredients
In a small bowl, mix ranch dressing, chopped jalapeño, lime juice, garlic powder, and salt until well combined.
- 10
Chill
Refrigerate the jalapeño ranch dressing for at least 30 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
