Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the seafood

Rinse the shrimp and tilapia under cold water. Peel and devein the shrimp. Cut the tilapia into small bite-sized pieces.

  2. 2

    Marinate the seafood

In a large bowl, combine the shrimp and tilapia with lime juice. Make sure the seafood is fully submerged in the juice. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the seafood to 'cook' in the citrus.

Vegetable Preparation

  1. 3

    Chop the vegetables

Dice the avocado, tomatoes, and red onion into small pieces. Chop the cilantro finely.

Combine

  1. 4

    Mix the ceviche

After the marinating time, remove the seafood from the refrigerator. Drain some of the lime juice, leaving enough to keep the mixture moist. Add the diced avocado, tomatoes, red onion, and cilantro to the bowl.

  2. 5

    Season

Sprinkle salt, black pepper, and garlic powder over the mixture. Gently toss everything together to combine without mashing the avocado.

Serve

  1. 6

    Plate the ceviche

Spoon the ceviche into serving bowls or on a plate. Garnish with extra cilantro if desired, and serve with tortilla chips or lettuce leaves.
