Ingredients for Homemade Ginger Ale
Method
Directions for Making Ginger Ale
- 1
Prepare the Ginger Syrup
Peel and slice the fresh ginger root into thin pieces. In a saucepan, combine the sliced ginger, water, and sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar has dissolved. Once boiling, reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 20 minutes.
- 2
Strain the Syrup
After simmering, remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool slightly. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a bowl or pitcher to remove the ginger pieces. You should have a ginger syrup.
- 3
Mix the Ginger Ale
In a large pitcher, combine the ginger syrup with fresh lemon juice and carbonated water. Stir gently to mix the ingredients without losing too much carbonation.
- 4
Serve
Fill glasses with ice cubes and pour the ginger ale over the ice. Garnish with mint leaves if desired. Serve immediately and enjoy your refreshing homemade ginger ale!
