Method

For the Mozzarella Sticks

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all the ingredients needed for the mozzarella sticks, including mozzarella cheese, flour, eggs, breadcrumbs, and seasonings.

  2. 2

    Set Up Breading Stations

Set up three bowls: one with flour, one with beaten eggs, and one with breadcrumbs mixed with Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.

  3. 3

    Bread the Mozzarella

Dip each mozzarella stick first in the flour, then in the beaten eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb mixture. Ensure they are well-coated.

  4. 4

    Chill the Mozzarella Sticks

Place the breaded mozzarella sticks on a baking sheet and chill in the freezer for at least 30 minutes to help them hold shape during frying.

  5. 5

    Heat Oil

In a deep pot, heat oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  6. 6

    Fry the Mozzarella Sticks

Carefully add the chilled mozzarella sticks to the hot oil, frying in batches if necessary. Fry until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.

For the Marinara Sauce

  1. 7

    Sauté Garlic

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.

  2. 8

    Add Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the crushed tomatoes, oregano, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring to a simmer.

  3. 9

    Simmer the Sauce

Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  4. 10

    Add Fresh Basil

Stir in the chopped fresh basil just before serving for added flavor.
