Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all the ingredients: marble rye bread, red corned beef, Cabot Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, thousand island dressing, and butter.

  2. 2

    Butter the Bread

Spread butter on one side of each slice of marble rye bread. This will help achieve a golden-brown crust when grilled.

Assembling the Sandwich

  1. 3

    Layer Ingredients

On the unbuttered side of two slices of marble rye bread, layer the following: 4 oz of red corned beef, 2 oz of Cabot Swiss cheese, and ½ cup of sauerkraut. Drizzle 2 tbs of thousand island dressing over the top.

  2. 4

    Complete the Sandwich

Top with the remaining slices of marble rye bread, buttered side facing out.

Grilling the Sandwich

  1. 5

    Preheat the Pan

Heat a skillet or griddle over medium heat.

  2. 6

    Grill the Sandwich

Place the assembled sandwich on the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes until the bottom is golden brown. Carefully flip the sandwich and grill the other side for an additional 4-5 minutes until it is also golden brown and the cheese has melted.

Serving

  1. 7

    Slice and Serve

Remove the sandwich from the skillet and let it cool for a minute. Slice the sandwich in half diagonally and serve with extra thousand island dressing on the side if desired.
