Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a large mixing bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt.

  3. 3

    Combine and Knead

Once the yeast mixture is frothy, add the olive oil and then gradually stir in the dry ingredients until a dough forms. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    First Rise

Place the kneaded dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Filling Preparation

  1. 5

    Mix Filling Ingredients

In a bowl, combine the softened butter, garlic powder, chopped fresh herbs, and salt. Mix until well combined and creamy.

Assembly and Baking

  1. 6

    Shape the Rolls

Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out into a rectangle on a floured surface. Spread the filling evenly over the dough.

  2. 7

    Roll and Cut

Starting from one long side, roll the dough tightly into a log. Cut the log into equal pieces (about 1.5 inches thick) and place them cut-side up in a greased baking dish.

  3. 8

    Second Rise

Cover the rolls with a cloth and let them rise again for about 30 minutes.

  4. 9

    Add Topping

Sprinkle the grated Parmesan cheese and paprika over the top of the rolls before placing them in the oven.

  5. 10

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the tops are golden brown and the rolls sound hollow when tapped.

  6. 11

    Cool and Serve

Remove the rolls from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving warm.
