Method
Torte Preparation
- 1
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease an 8-inch round cake pan and line the bottom with parchment paper.
- 2
Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the semisweet chocolate chips and unsalted butter. Stir until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.
- 3
Mix Sugar and Eggs
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar and large eggs until the mixture is light and fluffy.
- 4
- 5
Add Dry Ingredients
Sift in the cocoa powder and salt, and mix until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
- 6
Bake the Torte
Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the center is set but still slightly soft. A toothpick should come out with a few moist crumbs.
- 7
Cool
Let the torte cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then carefully invert it onto a plate and remove the parchment paper. Allow it to cool completely.
Hot Fudge Sauce Preparation
- 8
Combine Ingredients
In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the heavy cream, semisweet chocolate chips, unsweetened cocoa powder, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt.
- 9
Cook Fudge Sauce
Whisk constantly until the mixture is smooth and heated through, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from heat and set aside.
Serving
- 10
Serve the Torte
Slice the cooled chocolate torte into wedges and serve warm topped with hot fudge sauce, a scoop of vanilla ice cream, and a dollop of whipped cream.
