Gambas al Ajillo Ingredients

Method

Gambas al Ajillo Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Shrimp

In a bowl, season the peeled and deveined shrimp with salt. Set aside for about 10 minutes to allow the salt to penetrate the shrimp.

  2. 2

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, pour in the olive oil and heat it over medium-high heat. Allow the oil to get hot but not smoking.

  3. 3

    Add Garlic

Once the oil is hot, add the thinly sliced garlic to the skillet. Sauté for 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant and just starting to turn golden, being careful not to burn it.

  4. 4

    Add Chili Flakes

Sprinkle the dried red chili flakes into the skillet and stir to combine with the garlic. This will infuse the oil with a spicy flavor.

  5. 5

    Cook the Shrimp

Add the seasoned shrimp to the skillet in a single layer. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on one side until they turn pink, then flip them over and cook for an additional 2-3 minutes on the other side until fully cooked.

  6. 6

    Add Parsley

Once the shrimp are cooked, remove the skillet from heat and fold in the chopped fresh parsley for a burst of freshness.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the Gambas al Ajillo hot, garnished with lemon wedges on the side for squeezing over the shrimp.
