Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking soda, and salt until well combined.

  3. 3

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, cream the softened butter until light and fluffy. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition, then stir in the vanilla extract.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Do not overmix.

  5. 5

    Add Chocolate Chips and Nuts

Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped nuts (if using) until evenly distributed throughout the dough.

Baking

  1. 6

    Prepare Baking Sheet

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  2. 7

    Scoop Dough

Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop rounded balls of dough onto the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches of space between each cookie.

  3. 8

    Bake Cookies

Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are lightly golden. The centers may look slightly underbaked; they will continue to set as they cool.

  4. 9

    Cool Cookies

Remove the baking sheet from the oven and let the cookies cool on the sheet for 5 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
