Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Mix until a dough forms. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until the dough is smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    First Rise

Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Meatball Preparation

  1. 5

    Combine Ingredients

In a large bowl, mix together ground beef, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning until well combined.

  2. 6

    Form Meatballs

Shape the mixture into small meatballs, about 1 inch in diameter.

  3. 7

    Cook Meatballs

Preheat a skillet over medium heat and add a bit of olive oil. Cook the meatballs for about 8-10 minutes, turning occasionally until browned and cooked through.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 8

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your wood-fired pizza oven to around 700°F (370°C). If using a regular oven, preheat to the highest setting.

  2. 9

    Shape Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and divide it into two equal portions. Roll out each portion into a circle about 12 inches in diameter.

  3. 10

    Add Sauce and Toppings

Spread pizza sauce over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges. Scatter shredded mozzarella cheese, cooked meatballs, and sliced pepperoncini evenly over the top.

  4. 11

    Bake Pizza

Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven. Bake for about 8-10 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.

  5. 12

    Garnish and Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven, garnish with fresh basil, slice, and serve hot.
