Method

Meatballs

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

  2. 2

    Mix Meatball Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, salt, pepper, and Italian seasoning. Mix well until all ingredients are fully incorporated.

  3. 3

    Form Meatballs

Roll the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  4. 4

    Bake Meatballs

Bake meatballs in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until cooked through and browned.

Tomato Sauce

  1. 5

    Prepare the Sauce Base

In a large saucepan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté until translucent, about 5 minutes.

  2. 6

    Add Garlic

Add the minced garlic to the saucepan and sauté for another minute until fragrant.

  3. 7

    Combine Tomatoes and Seasonings

Stir in the canned crushed tomatoes, salt, pepper, Italian seasoning, and sugar. Bring the sauce to a simmer.

  4. 8

    Simmer Sauce

Reduce heat to low and let the sauce simmer while the meatballs are baking, stirring occasionally for about 20 minutes.

Spaghetti

  1. 9

    Cook Spaghetti

In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add spaghetti and cook according to the package instructions until al dente.

  2. 10

    Drain Spaghetti

Once cooked, drain the spaghetti and set aside.

Assembly

  1. 11

    Combine Meatballs with Sauce

Once the meatballs are done, add them to the sauce and let them simmer together for an additional 5-10 minutes.

  2. 12

    Serve

Serve the spaghetti topped with meatballs and sauce. Garnish with additional grated parmesan cheese if desired.
