Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Begin by gathering all the ingredients needed for the marinara sauce. Mince the garlic and chop the fresh basil.

  2. 2

    Heat the Olive Oil

In a large saucepan, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium heat.

  3. 3

    Sauté the Garlic

Once the oil is hot, add the minced garlic and sauté for about 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant. Be careful not to burn the garlic.

  4. 4

Add the Tomatoes and Tomato Paste

Pour in the canned whole tomatoes (with juice) and add 2 tablespoons of tomato paste. Stir well to combine.

  5. 5

    Season the Sauce

Add 1 teaspoon of dried oregano, 1 teaspoon of dried basil, 1 teaspoon of salt, 1 teaspoon of black pepper, and 1 teaspoon of sugar to the mixture. Stir to combine all the ingredients.

  6. 6

    Simmer the Sauce

Bring the sauce to a gentle boil, then reduce the heat to low. Let it simmer uncovered for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.

  7. 7

    Finish with Fresh Basil

Once the sauce has thickened and flavors have melded, stir in the chopped fresh basil and cook for an additional 5 minutes.

  8. 8

    Serve

Remove from heat and serve the marinara sauce hot over pasta or as a dip. Enjoy!
