Method
Dough Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
- 2
Mix the Dough
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the frothy yeast mixture along with olive oil. Mix until it forms a dough.
- 3
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 4
Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
Pizza Assembly
- 5
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
- 6
Shape the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a 12-inch circle or your desired shape.
- 7
Add Tomato Sauce
Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a small border around the edges.
- 8
Add Cheese
Tear the fresh mozzarella cheese into pieces and distribute it evenly on top of the sauce. Sprinkle grated parmesan cheese over the mozzarella.
- 9
Season and Add Basil
Drizzle olive oil over the pizza and sprinkle with salt to taste. Add fresh basil leaves on top.
- 10
Bake the Pizza
Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or onto the pizza stone) and bake for about 10-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.
- 11
Serve
Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a minute, then slice and serve hot.
