Method

Dough Preparation

  1. 1

    Activate Yeast

In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.

  2. 2

    Mix Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the yeast mixture and olive oil.

  3. 3

    Knead Dough

Mix until a dough forms. Turn it out onto a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.

  4. 4

    Let Dough Rise

Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm area for 1 hour or until doubled in size.

Pizza Assembly

  1. 5

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up as well.

  2. 6

    Cook Sausage

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground Italian sausage until browned and fully cooked, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.

  3. 7

    Roll Out Dough

Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a floured surface to your desired thickness and shape.

  4. 8

    Add Toppings

Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza peel or baking sheet. Spread the ricotta cheese evenly over the base, then sprinkle on the cooked sausage, shredded mozzarella, minced garlic, chili flakes, and sliced olives.

  5. 9

    Bake Pizza

Carefully transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or onto the pizza stone) and bake for 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbly.

  6. 10

    Cool and Serve

Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve hot and enjoy!
