Potatoes

Method

Preparation

1

Wash and Peel Potatoes

Start by washing the russet potatoes under cold running water to remove any dirt. Next, peel the potatoes using a vegetable peeler.

2

Cut Potatoes into Fries

After peeling, cut the potatoes into even strips, about 1/4 inch thick. This ensures even cooking.

3

Soak in Water

Place the cut fries into a large bowl of cold water. Let them soak for at least 30 minutes to remove excess starch, which helps achieve crispiness.

Cooking

4

Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or a large pot, add the vegetable oil and heat it to 350°F (175°C) over medium-high heat.

5

Dry the Fries

After soaking, drain the fries and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel. This step is crucial for preventing oil splatter.

6

Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a batch of the dried fries to the hot oil. Don't overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

7

Drain and Season

Remove the fries from the oil using a slotted spoon and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. Immediately sprinkle with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and paprika while they are hot.

8

Repeat

Repeat the frying process with the remaining fries until all are cooked.
