Method
Prepare the Meat Sauce
- 1
Cook the Onion and Garlic
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and minced garlic, and sauté until the onion becomes translucent, about 5 minutes.
- 2
Brown the Ground Beef
Add the ground beef to the skillet. Cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spoon, about 7-10 minutes.
- 3
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Simmer for 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Prepare the Béchamel Sauce
- 4
- 5
Add Milk
Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring there are no lumps. Continue whisking until the sauce thickens, about 5-7 minutes.
- 6
Season the Sauce
Stir in the grated nutmeg and salt. Remove from heat and set aside.
Assemble the Lasagna
- 7
Layer the Ingredients
In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Place 3 lasagna sheets over the sauce. Spread a layer of béchamel sauce, followed by a sprinkle of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
- 8
Repeat Layers
Repeat the process (meat sauce, pasta, béchamel, cheese) until all ingredients are used, finishing with a layer of béchamel and cheese on top.
Bake the Lasagna
- 9
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 180°C (350°F).
- 10
Bake
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is golden and bubbly.
- 11
Cool and Serve
Let the lasagna cool for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
