Method

Preparing the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix until well incorporated but do not overwork the meat.

  2. 2

    Form the Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a round patty, about ¾ inch thick.

  3. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet and cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness. During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty to melt.

Preparing the Toppings

  1. 5

    Prepare the Vegetables

Wash the lettuce leaves and tomato. Slice the tomato into ½ inch thick slices.

  2. 6

    Prepare the Pickles

If using whole pickles, slice them into thin rounds.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 7

    Toast the Buns

Optional: Toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until lightly golden.

  2. 8

    Layer the Ingredients

Spread ketchup and mustard on the bottom half of each bun. Place the cooked burger patty with melted cheese on top, followed by lettuce, tomato slices, and pickles.

  3. 9

    Top and Serve

Place the top half of the bun over the toppings and serve immediately with additional condiments on the side if desired.
