Ingredients for Chocolate Ball on Cake
Method
Directions for Chocolate Ball on Cake
- 1
Prepare the Cake
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- 3
- 4
Combine Mixtures
Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth.
- 5
Bake the Cake
Divide the batter evenly between the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let cool in pans for 10 minutes, then remove from pans to cool completely on wire racks.
- 6
Prepare the Chocolate Ganache
While the cakes are cooling, heat the heavy cream in a saucepan until it just begins to simmer. Remove from heat and add the chopped dark chocolate. Stir until smooth and glossy.
- 7
Assemble the Cake
Once the cakes are cool, place one layer on a serving plate. Spread a layer of ganache over the top. Place the second layer on top and pour the remaining ganache over the entire cake.
- 8
Create Chocolate Balls
Using the remaining ganache, chill it in the refrigerator until it firms up. Scoop out small amounts and roll them into balls. Optionally, roll the chocolate balls in chocolate sprinkles.
- 9
Decorate the Cake
Place the chocolate balls on top of the cake for decoration. Serve and enjoy!
