Method

Prepare Taco Shells

  1. 1

    Heat the Tortillas

In a dry skillet over medium heat, warm the corn tortillas for about 30 seconds on each side until they are pliable and slightly toasted. Keep them warm in a clean kitchen towel as you prepare the fillings.

Cook Protein Fillings

  1. 2

    Cook Ground Beef

In a skillet over medium heat, brown 1 pound of ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until no longer pink, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat and season with salt and pepper to taste.

  2. 3

    Cook Ground Chicken

In another skillet, cook 1 pound of ground chicken over medium heat until fully cooked, about 7-10 minutes. Season with taco seasoning or spices of your choice.

  3. 4

    Prepare Black Beans

Open the can of black beans, rinse under cold water, and drain. Heat in a small saucepan over medium heat until warmed through, about 5 minutes, adding salt and pepper to taste.

Prepare Vegetable Fillings

  1. 5

    Chop Vegetables

Rinse and chop the lettuce into bite-sized pieces. Dice the tomato, finely chop the red onion, and slice the avocado. Set aside in separate bowls.

Assemble Tacos

  1. 6

    Build Your Tacos

Take a warm tortilla and layer your choice of protein filling: ground beef, ground chicken, or black beans. Top with chopped lettuce, diced tomato, red onion, and avocado. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.

  2. 7

    Add Toppings

Finish your tacos with a dollop of sour cream, a spoonful of salsa, and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro. Serve with lime wedges on the side.
