Prepare Taco Shells

Heat the Tortillas
In a dry skillet over medium heat, warm the corn tortillas for about 30 seconds on each side until they are pliable and slightly toasted. Keep them warm in a clean kitchen towel as you prepare the fillings.

Cook Ground Beef
In a skillet over medium heat, brown 1 pound of ground beef, breaking it apart with a spatula. Cook until no longer pink, about 7-10 minutes. Drain excess fat and season with salt and pepper to taste.

Cook Ground Chicken
In another skillet, cook 1 pound of ground chicken over medium heat until fully cooked, about 7-10 minutes. Season with taco seasoning or spices of your choice.

Prepare Black Beans
Open the can of black beans, rinse under cold water, and drain. Heat in a small saucepan over medium heat until warmed through, about 5 minutes, adding salt and pepper to taste.

Build Your Tacos
Take a warm tortilla and layer your choice of protein filling: ground beef, ground chicken, or black beans. Top with chopped lettuce, diced tomato, red onion, and avocado. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.

Finish your tacos with a dollop of sour cream, a spoonful of salsa, and a sprinkle of fresh cilantro. Serve with lime wedges on the side.
