Burger Preparation
- 1
Form the Patties
In a mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, and black pepper. Divide the mixture into two equal portions and form each portion into a patty, about 1/2 inch thick.
- 2
- 3
Add Cheese
During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar and a slice of American cheese on each patty, allowing them to melt.
Caramelize Onions
- 4
Slice the Onion
Peel and slice the onion into thin rings.
- 5
Cook the Onions
In a separate skillet, heat a tablespoon of oil over medium heat. Add the sliced onions and cook, stirring occasionally, for about 15-20 minutes until they are golden brown and caramelized.
Assemble the Burger
- 6
Prepare the Bun
Toast the burger buns in a toaster or on the grill until lightly browned.
- 7
Add Spread
Spread mayonnaise, ketchup, and mustard on the bottom half of each bun.
- 8
Layer the Ingredients
Place a lettuce leaf on each bun, followed by a slice of tomato, then the two cooked patties with melted cheese, caramelized onions, and pickle slices.
- 9
Complete the Burger
Top with the other half of the bun and press down gently.
