Method
Cooking the Pork
- 1
Prepare the Pork
Rub the pork shoulder with Hawaiian sea salt evenly on all sides.
- 2
Add Liquid Smoke
Drizzle the liquid smoke over the pork and rub it in with your hands to ensure it is well-coated.
- 3
Slow Cook
Place the pork shoulder in a slow cooker and add 1 cup of water. Cover and cook on low for 8-10 hours, until the pork is tender and easily shredded.
- 4
Shred the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork from the slow cooker and let it rest for a few minutes. Shred the pork using two forks and return it to the slow cooker to soak in the juices.
Preparing the Sliders
- 5
Make the Coleslaw
In a large bowl, combine the coleslaw mix, mayonnaise, rice vinegar, sugar, and black pepper. Toss until the coleslaw is well-coated.
- 6
Assemble the Sliders
Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half. Place a generous amount of shredded kalua pork on the bottom half of each roll. Top with a spoonful of coleslaw and add any optional toppings such as sliced jalapeños or pickles.
- 7
Serve
Place the top half of the rolls on each slider and serve immediately while warm.
