Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and grease four ramekins with butter and dust with cocoa powder.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chopped semisweet chocolate and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.

Mixing Batter

  1. 3

    Combine Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until well combined.

  2. 4

    Mix Wet Ingredients

Once the chocolate and butter mixture has cooled slightly, add the large eggs, egg yolks, and vanilla extract. Whisk until smooth.

  3. 5

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet ingredients until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.

Baking

  1. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared ramekins, filling them about 2/3 full.

  2. 7

    Bake

Bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, until the edges are firm but the center is soft.

  3. 8

    Cool Briefly

Remove from the oven and let them cool for 1 minute before inverting onto plates.

Serving

  1. 9

    Serve Warm

Dust the tops with powdered sugar and serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an indulgent treat.
