Loco Moco Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Burger Patties

In a bowl, season ground beef with salt and pepper, then form into two equal-sized patties.

  2. 2

    Cook the Burger Patties

Heat oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Cook the burger patties for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until desired doneness. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  3. 3

    Make the Mushroom Onion Gravy

In the same skillet, add diced onions and sliced mushrooms. Sauté until onions are translucent and mushrooms are cooked down, about 5 minutes.

  4. 4

    Finish the Gravy

Add soy sauce and beef broth to the mushroom and onion mixture. Bring to a simmer. Mix cornstarch with a little water to create a slurry, then add to the gravy to thicken. Stir until it reaches desired consistency.

  5. 5

    Cook the Eggs

In a separate pan, cook the eggs to your liking (fried, scrambled, etc.).

  6. 6

    Assemble the Loco Moco

On a plate, layer cooked white rice, place the burger patties on top, then pour the mushroom onion gravy over the patties. Top with the cooked eggs.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the loco moco alongside chowmein noodles and mac salad.
