Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Prime Rib

Season the prime rib roast with salt and black pepper. Place in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) and roast for about 1.5 hours, or until it reaches desired doneness. Let it rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing.

  2. 2

    Sauté the Onions

In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Slice the onion and add it to the skillet. Sauté until the onions are caramelized, about 10-15 minutes.

  3. 3

    Make the Horseradish Cream

In a small bowl, mix together the horseradish and sour cream. Adjust seasoning to taste.

  4. 4

    Prepare the Au Jus

In a saucepan, heat the beef broth until it simmers. This will be used for dipping the sandwiches.

  5. 5

    Assemble the Sandwiches

Slice the baguette in half and toast lightly. Layer the sliced prime rib, sautéed onions, and Swiss cheese on the baguette. Place the sandwich under the broiler for 1-2 minutes to melt the cheese.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the sandwiches hot with a side of au jus for dipping and horseradish cream on the side.
