Meatball Preparation
- 1
Mix the Meatball Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, ground pork, breadcrumbs, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Mix until well combined.
- 2
Shape the Meatballs
Using your hands, shape the mixture into meatballs about 1.5 inches in diameter. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
- 3
Bake the Meatballs
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Bake the meatballs for 20-25 minutes, or until they are cooked through and browned.
Marinara Sauce Preparation
- 4
Sauté the Aromatics
In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for about 5 minutes, until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute.
- 5
Add the Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, dried oregano, dried basil, salt, black pepper, and sugar. Bring the mixture to a simmer.
- 6
Simmer the Sauce
Let the sauce simmer for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens slightly.
- 7
Combine Meatballs and Sauce
Once the meatballs are done baking, add them to the marinara sauce and let them simmer together for 5-10 minutes to absorb the flavors.
